In the star topology, there is a computer at the centre that is used to control the whole of the network. If centre machine break down, then the whole network breaks down. Star topologies use more cabling and therefore more expensive than other topologies. There is a path from each terminal to the central computer; this type of topology is very fast.
By following the Computer Studies syllabus, students foster an interest and confidence in the use of computing. They develop an appreciation of the range and power of computer applications and solve problems using computing; their studies include systems analysis, algorithm design and programming concepts. O Level Computer Studies students consider a broad a range of computer applications, so as to provide an understanding of the power and versatility of the computer and the benefits of its use.
